News Blitz 6/16: Richard Sherman calls Brandon Browner one of NFL's most underrated players

Posted Jun 16, 2014

The Patriots.com News Blitz gets you up-to-date on the latest Patriots news from local and national media.

Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald had a chance to speak with Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman about his former teammate - new Patriots CB Brandon Browner.

"I think he’s one of the most dynamic and underrated players in our football league," Sherman told the Herald. READ MORE>>

Christopher Price of WEEI.com writes that Patriots CB Logan Ryan didn't take any snaps at strong safety during OTA sessions that were open to the media. Many have speculated that Ryan could potentially be a replacement for Steve Gregory, whom the Patriots cut ties with earlier this offseason.

"If he does move to safety, New England certainly hopes that it goes half as well as the transition Devin McCourty made a few years ago," adds Price. "One stat from Football Outsiders certainly caught our eye — in 600 snaps last season, no one managed to get away with a broken tackle. It’€™s the best mark on the team from anyone with at least 500 snaps." READ MORE>>

Nick Underhill of MassLive.com reports that Patriots WR Aaron Dobson is "doubtful" for this week's Mini-Camp as he continues to recover from March foot surgery, according to a source.

"The wide receiver delayed the surgery to March because there was hope that his foot could heal without surgery," writes Underhill. "Dobson is no longer wearing a walking boot and is said to be 'doing better.'" READ MORE>>

Doug Kyed of NESN.com believes the competition at wide receiver is among the many things to watch as Patriots Mini-Camp gets underway this week.

"Dobson is expected to miss minicamp after undergoing surgery to repair a broken foot over the offseason, which will give second-year pros Kenbrell Thompkins and Josh Boyce and free-agent addition Brandon LaFell more opportunities to work with quarterback Tom Brady," notes Kyed. "Thompkins and Boyce played well during OTAs, and if their strong play continues, Dobson could be playing from behind once he gets back on the field." READ MORE>>
